NAMASTE YOGA, KURRAJONG

Namaste Yoga, Kurrajong is located at Kurrajong Natural Medicine Centre in picturesque Kurrajong Village.
Our purpose is to share the experience of Yoga with others.

Namaste Yoga School runs Yoga classes, workshops, short courses and Teacher Training Courses at our premises in Kurrajong and at other locations.

Our regular Yoga classes, delivered as progressive courses over 8 or 10 weeks, are available to all levels of experience: Beginner, Experienced Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. Small class size makes it possible for each student to be instructed according to individual ability and students can progress in their Asana practice at their own pace with safety.

Please note that our classes are not restricted to Asana practice only, but also include relaxation skills, meditation, Yoga philosophy and lifestyle, breath awareness techniques and energy balancing practices. These components are part of the traditional teachings known as Yoga and are incorporated into each class to bring more balanced practice. For example, a typical class will generally comprise breath awareness, Asana practice, relaxation and energy balancing technique followed by short meditation. Classes are 90 minutes duration.

At all times the safety and needs of each individual student are considered.

First time students with pre-existing health problems (e.g. suffering acute pain or recent surgery) are advised to have a short meeting with Susan (no charge) to determine whether a group class is suitable for you.

Private classes are also available to people recovering from injury or illness and with other special health needs.
Students are encouraged to incorporate all facets of Yoga practice into daily life in a balanced and harmonious way to enhance physical, mental and spiritual well-being.

We also run Health Retreats, workshops and courses from time to time – please see our “What’s On?” link on our website for more information.

Yoga Teacher Training Courses and workshops were introduced in 2013 and we now offer CPE training and mentorship to Yoga teachers from all over Sydney and New South Wales.

Namaste!
Susan & Danny

The meaning of the word Namaste (pronounced Nam-A-Stay): Namaste is Sanskrit for ‘the divine light within me acknowledges the divine light within you’. It is a very respectful traditional Indian greeting accompanied by the hand gesture called "Namaskar" in which the hands are placed in prayer position over the heart, then brought to the forehead and back to the centre of the chest.

WHAT IS YOGA?

Best known in the West as a distinctive approach to maintaining physical strength and flexibility that also involves relaxation and meditation techniques, Yoga is fundamentally the science of health and happiness.

Yoga is not a religion, cult or dogma. Irrespective of age, gender, spiritual belief or level of ability, Yoga offers an opportunity for everyone to experience a healthier and happier life.

Yoga’s holistic approach to a more enriched experience of life includes diet, physical exercise (asana), correct breathing (pranayama), relaxation of body & mind, meditation & more…

Since the introduction of Yoga to the West in the 1960’s, Yoga has gradually risen in popularity and remains just as relevant today as it was 10,000 years ago. The ancient wisdom of Yoga assists us to understand the human condition and how we can successfully negotiate the many challenges and sufferings we encounter in life.

The claims made for the effects of Yoga practices has stimulated the interest of medical science for many decades and the results of scientific research provides us with a modern day understanding of how Yoga works to improve and maintain physical and mental health.

If you are looking for better health and peace of mind, why not give Yoga a try?
